In the 1850s English firearms designers developed the first successful double action revolvers.
While designing the grips, they found that single action style grips wouldn't allow the operator to effectively pull the heavy double action trigger and deal with the subsequent recoil.
Inspired by woodworking hand tools, they included a "horn" to keep the hand in place and help diminish the effects of recoil.
Obsolete Arms is proud to bring back this style of grip to modern revolvers.
Our Tranter Grip allows the user to get a higher grip on their revolver, while also reducing the amount of felt recoil in the hand.
These grips will not fit the hammered version of the K6S.
Our grips will be available in different varieties of wood.

I got the black mesquite, looks great on the gun. The fitment on the revolver is excellent. They really help with recoil and quick follow up shots by allowing you to get a high grip on the gun without your hand slipping over/ above the back strap, like on traditional grips. I highly recommend these grips!!!
For 5 years I have tried to "fall in love" with my Kimber K6s 3" and found it impossible . It was the only handgun in my inventory that did not feel good in my hand. I tried grips from Altamont , Hogue and VZ without any luck. Last month I started thinking about putting my K6s up for sale , as it really bothered me that I could not feel comfortable holding it. Then by accident I ran across Obsolete Arms and their Tranter grip. I took a chance and order it . As of tonight I can say , I will NOT be selling my K6s ! The Tranter Grip is amazing ! The K6s now feels wonderful in my hand. Thank You Obsolete Arms !

The Tranter grip fits my K6S superbly, is properly relieved to accommodate my speedloader and is finished nicely. The draw back about the finish is that it makes the grip feel slick. Tru-oil would give a much better texture and bring out the beauty of the wood even more (See Culina Grips). The only other wish, which is minor, is that the grip screw was the same as the Kimber's hex head. All in all, a very nice grip.

I chose a finish that would be resistant to sweat and physical abuse, but with a trade off in finish.
I will definitely give the Tru-oil a try.
